Companies that want to build windmills off the coast of southern New Jersey will have guaranteed buyers for their energy under a state proposal. Gov. Chris Christie is considering a bill that passed this week to force utility companies to supply a percentage of their energy through offshore wind. The state passed a similar law last year for commercial solar projects.

The speakers, made up of contractors, manufacturers, environmentalists and small utility companies, unanimously opposed the cuts.
