Repower America

What's New

In late September, the U.S. Senate officially introduced the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power act, which will for the first time, reduce global warming pollution nationally by capping pollution levels. The legislation, which mirrors the House version as well as New Jersey's state global warming bill, will reduce emissions by 20% by 2020 and over 80% by 2050. The bill will put a price on carbon, provide incentives for clean energy and create over 1.7 new million clean energy jobs across the country.

New Jersey's Senators, Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez, have been clean energy champions, but we will need their full support to strengthen and pass this legislation.

Take Action

Sign our emai to Senators Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez, urging them to strengthen and pass the federal clean energy bill this year so that we can fight global warming and create more clean energy jobs.

Background

We're working to make sure that the U.S. Senate strengthens and passes clean energy legislation that:

  • Reduces heat-trapping global warming pollution at least 80 percent by 2050 and by 20% by 2020.
  • Cleans up the dirtiest and oldest coal-fired power plants
  • Puts a price on carbon, so that we can provide incentives for clean energy solutions like wind, solar and energy efficiency
  • strengthens our hand going into international climate negotiations this December in Copenhagen

The oil and coal companies are fighting to stay the course: ExxonMobil and other big energy companies are spending millions on political contributions, ads and over 2,000 lobbyists to keep us on the wrong path—pushing more of the same old polluting policies
